The Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) program offers a clear pathway to leadership excellence in public finance. Over the past year, more than 400 GFOA members began their CPFO journey, and we invite you to consider joining them in 2026. There is no better time to than now to start working toward your goals. Through the CPFO program, you’ll gain the skills and expertise to:
- Lead with Confidence: Master the leadership skills essential for success in state and local government roles.
- Excel in Public Finance: Deepen your understanding of best practices and standards in public finance.
- Uphold Integrity: Strengthen your ethical foundation and embrace GFOA’s core values, including ethics, leadership, and finance competencies.
The program also encourages continued engagement with GFOA’s wide range of resources, including best practices, publications, training opportunities, conferences, member networking groups, and partnerships with peer organizations.
- TGFOA is awarding 2 (two) scholarships per annual cycle.
- Value: $1,200 enrollment fee for two years of participation, which is the anticipated time it will take to complete the certification.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be current TGFOA members with at least three years of active membership and a demonstrated history of consistent engagement in TGFOA conferences. Applicants must also be paid members of GFOA at the time of application.
